In a bid to encourage new golfers to the game Dubai Golf will host a series of “free” clinics during the Dubai Desert Classic taking place at the Emirates Golf Club from Thursday.

Dubai Golf, the management company for Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and Nad Al Sheba Club, have roped in the services of seven of the UAE top teaching professionals to assist in the clinics.

The PGA-qualified teaching pros are Simon Mees and Cyril Rozes from the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and the renowned Emirates Golf Club-based Peter Cowen Academy pros Nicky Lawrenson, David Adams and Peter Bailey and Simon Plumb and Mathew Tipper from Nad Al Sheba Club.

“Every year our clinics get more and more popular not just with seasoned players but also with complete beginners,” said Dubai Golf managing director Rod Bogg at a press conference yesterday.

“Those of varying handicaps might want to improve on certain parts of their game, while those with no experience might just want to learn a little more.

“That’s one of the great things about the free clinics – people who have never picked up golf club in their lives can find out if the game is for them without having to go to any expense. The complimentary lessons are available to anyone visiting the Desert Classic and are a great way of introducing the basics of golf to absolute beginners,” Bogg said.

“Each private lesson will last 15 minutes and will address anything you want to improve about your game.”

Registration will be at the Emirates Golf Club’s practice range. However, only one lesson per person will be allowed to ensure maximum participation and will be provided on a first come-first served basis.

Clinic timings
March 3-5: 10am - 1pm and 2pm-5pm
March 6: 10am-1pm.
