Dubai: A strong supporter of several sports events in the region, Gulf News has once again stepped in to support the Dubai Desert Classic, one of the premier tournaments on the European Tour to be held at the Emirates Golf Club from January 26 to February 1.
The $2.5 million event this year takes on a special significance as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. And to mark the milestone, 'golf in DUBAi' - the promoters and organisers of the longest-running tournament in the region, have invited all former champions, including Tiger Woods, to honour them for their contributions in raising the profile of the event.
Duleep George, Executive Director Marketing and Sales, Gulf News, said: "We, at Gulf News, are delighted to continue our support to one of the premier international sporting events of the region. Gulf News is committed to supporting events that promote Dubai to an international audience.
"We have also been involved with nearly all the major sporting events of the region, since their inception and will continue to support them through our sponsorship and our editorial coverage."
Promoted and organised by golf in DUBAi, the Dubai Desert Classic will have an impressive star-cast spearheaded by three-time winner Ernie Els of South Africa. The European Tour event is expected to attract many spectators, who can all come and enjoy the 20th anniversary festivities.
