Dubai: The Carpetland July Monthly Open was staged at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club on Saturday and the soaring temperatures certainly did not keep the 72 players from spectacular performances.

In yet another unbelievable performance in the pair's betterball stableford format, the already crowned Carpetland kings Mads Thuesen and Patrick Morrow won their forth-monthly event after narrowly missing out in the grand final in May.

They both contributed nine times and together scored one net eagle, fourteen net birdies and one net bogey to score a massive 51 points (15 under par) to win clearly by 7 points.

Second and third place went right down to the wire and was a much closer affair where father and daughter Sergy and Serifa D'Souza's 44 points with 26 on the back nine managed to clinch outright second place.

Robert and Maureen Platt's 44 points with 22 points on the back nine finished in third place, two points clear of the chasing pack. This months three winning pairs as always will be invited back to the grand final in May 2009.

Other prizes

Other prizewinners on the day were David McLeod and Vikram Judge who received a special personalised Ahead cap with their names embroidered on the back for their longest drive and nearest the pin efforts.

The Carpetland rug raffle was one by a surprised Kevin Jones, which was a great consolation prize after receiving the most golf prize with his partner Steven Millar.

Robert and Maureen Platt's 44 points with 22 points on the back nine finished in third place, two points clear of the chasing pack.
