Bryan brothers rope in Murray and Djokovic for debut music album
We asked Roddick, but he was a bit embarrassed, Bob reveals
The Bryan twins are making music in tennis circles!
After four world titles, Mike and Bob Bryan have struck a different chord by roping in Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic to sing in their debut music album Let It Rip.
The twins, who team up with friend David Baron, released five of the songs from the album in the middle of September this year. One of the songs, Let It Rip, climbed the charts in one week, reaching No 12 among new releases.
Egged on by this success, the twins approached Murray and Djokovic to lend their voices during the course of the tournament here this week and both graciously agreed.
"We wanted to get a couple of top-10 guys. We asked Andy Roddick, but he was a bit embarrassed to do it. But Murray and Djokovic said yes and they were the first two guys we asked," Bob related.
On Tuesday, the brothers went to Murray's and Djokovic's rooms with the computer and microphone to get the recording done. "He [Murray] was a little off for the first couple of times. It took him three times, but he eventually got the rhythm and he nailed it," Bob stated.
Next up was Djokovic. "Novak really gets into it, he enjoys it. We have a video on YouTube where he's actually dancing while singing. He was loving it," Bob praised. The Americans are quite keen to have Roddick as well. "I think he is a good rapper. This time we couldn't convince him to do it … maybe we will next time," Bob smiled.
The world No 2 pairing registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals here on Wednesday.
