Dubai: The former Al Shaab club striker Iranian Ali Samera has signed a one-year contract with Ajman club for $1 million.

Ajman won promotion last month and will play next season in the professional league for the first time.

Samera stayed for four years with his old club, showing outstanding performance and contributing to their competitive bids for the league title.

"I have a great ambition with my new club, not only to stay in the professional league, but to win a good position in the standings," said Ali Samera in a press conference held at Ajman club after he signed.

Top goal scorer

Samera won the league's top goalscorer for two seasons, once alone and the second time shared with Anderson of Sharjah.

Samera said that good results next season will be achieved by the co-operation of all the club family.

"Not only the foreign players will achieve the excellent results for the club, but all must co-operate to work hard to achieve success - players, technical staff, management, board and even supporters."

Khalifa Al Jarah, the club's board of directors chairman, said Samera was a very good player and would be a positive addition to the team.

Fortification

"We decided to fortify the team in the coming professional league with talented players and Samera is one of them. He is a kind of player any club wishes to sign with" said Al Jarah.

He added that they are still negotiating with other Emirati and foreign players to make the team stronger for the tough professional league next season.

Ali Samera payed tribute to his old club.

"I left Al Shaab with my own wish and no conflict happened between me or any one from my old club."
