Dubai: Sharjah coach Gerrard Van der Lim could be sacking victim No 10 in the UAE first division if he fails to take Sharjah to the President's Cup Final.

The Dutch coach, who began with Sharjah at the start of the season, was one of four coaches who kept their job so far. The others are: Cerezo of Al Shabab, ZeMario of Al Wasl and Lazlo Boloni of Al Jazira.

The other eight clubs changed their coaches and some of them changed more than three, like Al Wahda and Al Nasr.

The Sharjah football committee held a meeting with the coach asking him to double his efforts to win the coming match against Al Wasl in the President's Cup semifinals on Friday.

Sharjah's results in recent league matches have not been good. They lost to Al Jazira 4-1 and 1-0 to Al Nasr at home.

Rumours spread after the Al Jazira match last Saturday that the coach was sacked, however the Sharjah board renewed trust in him and urged him and the players to do their best in the President's Cup semifinals.

Sharjah, who have won the President's Cup a record eight times, are looking to win their semifinals match against Al Wasl at the Al Ahli stadium on Friday.

The team restarted training under Van der Lim with Brazilian striker Anderson back after an injury. Keeper Mahmoud Al Mass also began training after being absent in the last three games.
