London: West Bromwich Albion signed Hull City defender James Chester in a deal worth up to £8 million (Dh45.77 million), the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.
Wales international Chester, a product of Manchester United’s youth academy, agreed a four-year contract at The Hawthorns after completing a medical earlier in the week.
Albion will only pay Championship club Hull the full £8 million if all the contract clauses related to the centre-back’s performances and the team’s success are triggered.
“James did very well for Hull City. I’ve had a good chat with him and he’s the type of player I like,” Albion manager Tony Pulis told the club’s website.
