Oman to host next edition of Gulf Cup

The Sultanate of Oman has been named to host the 19th Gulf Cup in January 2009.

Abu Dhabi: The Sultanate of Oman has been named to host the 19th Gulf Cup in January 2009.

The presidents of the Football Associations of the eight countries currently involved in the 18th Gulf Cup met at the Emirates Place on Thursday and later announced the choice of Oman.

This will be the third time the country will be staging the Gulf's premier football championship after 1984 and 1996. Yemen will host the 20th Gulf Cup football championship in 2011. Iraq will host the 21st edition in 2013.
