Seventy players were handpicked at the selection to be enrolled with an exclusive training programme
Dubai: The UAE Nike Elite Training Programme selection was held at Dubai Sports City on Friday as part of a new grass-roots initiative to scout for the best teenage footballers in the UAE.
A total of 70 players were handpicked at the selection to be enrolled with an exclusive two-week Nike Training Elite Programme, which kicked-off on Sunday.
Five outstanding players from the programme will be sent to the prestigious Manchester United Soccer Schools in the UK.
Over the next two weeks, Tommy Wingrove, the coach of Manchester United Soccer Schools, will be coaching the 70 young football players.
"I am committed to delivering professional football training directly into the hands of those who prove themselves on the pitch. Every single registrant have a fair chance to enroll in the two-week Nike Elite Training Programme.
"The players who have been selected for the Nike Elite Training will now go through a vigorous conditioning programme with just a handful of players making it through to the final days." explained Wingrove.
No matter which stage a player reaches, Nike will strive to equip them with professional advice to help build them into a great player.
Participants will walk away with valuable techniques which will give them a unique edge against their opponents.
