Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday received at Zabeel Palace the members of the Egyptian national football team which won the African Nations Cup.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and other officials.
Shaikh Mohammad congratulated the Egyptian President, government and their people on the great achievement which is a tremendous success for all the Arabs and the Arab sport in particular.
He said that the Arabs can match such excellent results in other sports competitions at the continental and international levels with determination, firm will and intent.
Shaikh Mohammad said that success has no limits and the Arabs would have to strive to achieve more success at the world level.
He pointed to the soccer World Cup, which is dominated by the European and South American countries and is still a dream for all the Arabs.
He said competing to win the World Cup can not be achieved unless "we train hard, prepare our teams in a good way, have faith in our capabilities through which we will achieve our objectives."
Shaikh Mohammad said that the World Cup dream must come true. He said that he and the Arab world have great faith in Egypt's abilities and it will not be surprising if they reach the World Cup finals.
Ahmad Hasan, skipper of the Egyptian national team, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the team to Shaikh Mohammad, who always supports the Arab youth and athletes whenever they achieve success.
Hasan said it's not unexpected for Shaikh Mohammad to honour them, because last year he honoured the Iraqi team for winning the Asian Cup.
The Egyptian team attended a luncheon banquet at Burj Al Arab yesterday before they left for Cairo in the evening.
On Tuesday night, the Egyptian FA chairman Samir Zahir, his board members, players, technical and administrative staff were honoured by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai at the Al Ahli Club.
