Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday received management and players of Al Ahli Club, winners of the Premier Division Football League.

Al Ahli will represent the country during the World Clubs Championship, to be hosted in Abu Dhabi in December.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Al Ahli Club.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the club members and congratulated them on winning the coveted title.

"We consider ourselves members of all [UAE] clubs. We do not favour one club over another because they are after all Emarati clubs. We hope that our clubs will do us pride in regional and international arenas," he said.

Shaikh Mohammad praised Al Ahli for outstanding performance throughout the competition and said that they deserved the title.

He urged the players to work hard to remain on the top.

"It is easy to reach the top. Yet it is more important to keep the momentum and to strive to stay there for the longest time possible. This could only be achieved by training hard, learning from past mistakes and self development."

The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Khalifa Sulaiman, Board Chairman of Al Ahli Club, Matar Mohammad Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, and Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh, Media Escort to Shaikh Mohammad.
