Dubai: Portuguese striker Madjer scored five goals to help Al Ahli become the first team to have their name inscribed on the UAE Beach Soccer League trophy thanks to a thumping 7-3 win over Ajman Club in the final at the Al Mamzar Beach park yesterday.

Madjer scored at will, with a brace in the first period followed by one in the second period and another two goals in the final third.

Madjer, one of four foreign professionals signed by Al Ahli President Abdullah Al Naboodah for the inaugural version of the league, deservedly walked away with the top scorer of the tournament award.

"I am extremely pleased to see the success of this league and I hope we have managed to pass on some of our knowledge to the UAE players so that beach soccer grows here," Madjer told media after the final.

Dr Ahmad Sa'ad Al Sharif, secretary general, Dubai Sports Council (DSC) presented the trophies to the winners in the presence of DSC officials Ali Omar and Badr Hareb. Earlier, Al Nasr had the consolation of emerging as the third best team in the competition when they secured a 7-3 win over Hatta Club.
