Kuwait win Hearing Impaired tournament

Kuwait won the title of the GCC Football Championship for the Hearing Impaired after beating Bahrain 4-0 to collect a maximum 15 points from five matches in the final day of the tournament

Abu Dhabi: Kuwait won the title of the GCC Football Championship for the Hearing Impaired after beating Bahrain 4-0 to collect a maximum 15 points from five matches in the final day of the tournament organised by the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs and Minors Affairs at Al Jazira indoor stadium.

Saudi Arabia finished second after beating hosts the UAE 4-2 who finished third, as Qatar registered their second successive withdrawal from the tournament against Oman who won the game 2-0 by forfeit.

Kuwait pocketed Dh40,000 for winning the title while the Saudis got Dh30,000 and the UAE Dh20,000 with every team from other countries getting Dh10,000 each.

Majed Awadh Al Asmari, from Saudi Arabia was the tournament's top scorer with 17 goals while Mohammad Al Ma'mari, from Oman, was the best goalkeeper.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan attended the final match and awarded the trophy and medals to the top three teams of the tournament and praised the successful organisation and the importance of hosting such sporting events for the disabled.
