Muscat: Kuwait striker Badr Al Mutawaa has found the answer to the eternal football riddle regarding the question between performance and result.

Kuwait head coach, Mohammad Ebrahim applied a strict defensive strategy in his second match against Bahrain with one lone striker and the team depending upon rare counter attacks.

But his plan succeeded and the team won the encounter with a single goal - scored by defender Masa'ad Nada from a dead ball.

Asked about their dull performance in comparison with their first entertaining match against the hosts in the opener, which ended in a goalless tie, Al Mutawaa said, "It was a dull match but we won the three points. In the first match we played a good, entertaining match and made everyone happy except us, as we squandered two points.

"Tonight [Wednesday] we played a dull, defensive match but we won the points and made ourselves and our fans happy. What is more important?"

Ebrahim was praised by everyone for finding how to use his team's capabilities in the best way and with four points from two matches, Kuwait, the last team to confirm participation in the tournament following the lift of Fifa ban, are joint leaders of Group A with a match remaining against Iraq.
