Dubai: Juma Rashid has been handed a new challenge by his club Al Shabab.

Rashid, a former UAE goalkeeper who was playing with for Al Shabab until last season when they were crowned champions, has been appointed assistant manager with the senior team.

In his new role, Rashid will assist the current team manager Obaid Al Hubaitha, also a former player with the UAE squad.

"I admit I have very little experience in this field. This is a new challenge and I hope to make maximum use of this new opportunity and contribute to the success of my team," said Rashid.

"This will be a learning curve for me."
