Ittihad Kalba sack coach after heavy defeat
Ittihad Kalba sacked their Moroccan coach Al Hasan Agnoy following their team's last defeat at the hands of Fujairah Club in the etisalat second division league.
Dubai: Ittihad Kalba sacked their Moroccan coach Al Hasan Agnoy following their team's last defeat at the hands of Fujairah Club in the etisalat second division league.
Ittihad lost 5-1 to Fujairah in their last league match and and are now nine points behind leaders Al Khaleej who beat Al Hamriya 2-1 to stay on top with 59 points and need to win three matches from their last six to secure promotion to the top flight.
The Ittihad board appointed Saif Sultan, the club's under-16 coach, to take over in a caretaker capacity till the end of the season.
Fujairah dominated the match against Ittihad Kalba, who were surprised at the fine performance of the Fujairah players.
Moroccan midfielder Karim Karcar was at his creative best while Jordanian Ahmad Hayel score a hattrick. Ittihad Kalba showed poor form and despite scoring first, couldn't stop the continuous attacks from Fujairah which resulted in five goals. They could have added few more had not Fujairah strikers lost several sitters.
Ajman jumped to third place with 49 points after beating Dubai Club 2-1. Diba Al Hesn also have 49 points after defeating Al Jazira Al Hamra 3-2.
Bani Yas returned to their winning ways by beating Diba Fujairah 3-0 to take their tally to 46 points in the fifth place.
Fujairah, who thrashed Ittihad 5-1, finished sixth with 43 points. Al Orouba lost 3-1 to Al Arabi while Ras Al Khaimah beat Masafi 2-1.
