Fitout and Goa Velha in first day wins

Fitout and Goa Velha Al Zuari secured convincing wins on the opening day of the corporate football at the DSS Gulf International Promotions Sportzone being held at the Dulsco Village in Al Quoz on Wednesday.

Dubai: Fitout and Goa Velha Al Zuari secured convincing wins on the opening day of the corporate football at the DSS Gulf International Promotions Sportzone being held at the Dulsco Village in Al Quoz on Wednesday.

Led by skipper Sumesh Kumar, Fitout defeated Al Maya Group 3-0, while Al Zuari rode on a four-goal spree from Avalon Dalgado to whip Dubai Duty Free 7-2. Avinash Pinheiro, Cecil Negreiro and Wilton Goes scored one each.

American Hospital got the better of DHL 'A' 12-7, while Copy Corner and Arabian Oasis drew 5-5.

In the women's volleyball, Habtoor Grand Hotel defeated the experienced Emirates Airline 2-0, while in the inter-hotel volleyball, Dubai International squeaked past Shangri-la Hotel and Radisson SAS Media City overcame Hilton Dubai Creek 2-0.

Present on the opening day were John Neale, Managing Director of Dulsco, S Bala Kumar, Director, Paresh Karia, General Manager, and Raul Fernandes, Chief Organiser and Managing Director of Gulf International Promotions.

The 151 teams will play their games daily from 5pm over the next month at the Dulsco Village in Al Quoz. Finals will be held on August 15.
