Dubai: Italians Fabio Capello and Filippo Inzaghi are the latest big names confirmed for the ninth Dubai International Sports Conference, to be held next month.
Current AC Milan coach Inzaghi and Russia boss Capello, who previously coached the Italian giants, will share the stage at the two-day conference at Atlantis, The Palm. They will discuss the past and present of the legendary Serie A club.
Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman, Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the event will be held on December 28 and 29.
Capello guided Milan to the European Champions League crown in 1994, beating Barcelona 4-0 in the final.
New coach Inzaghi had a brilliant playing career with the club, scoring 125 goals in 300 appearances between 2001 to 2012.
Mohammad Al Kamali, Member of the Executive Office of DSC and Head of the Organizing Committee was confident on the success of the conference due to the presence of eminent sportspersons. “This is the fourth successive time for Capello at the conference and this just shows the importance of this event on the Dubai sports calendar,” Al Kamali said.
Capello has vowed his confirmation for the Dubai event as it is the right platform to discuss the current situation of world football. “Capello has shown the world that he is a class coach with his distinctive style. He has coached some of the top clubs including Real Madrid, AC Milan, Parma and Juventus along with the national teams of England and Russia. We are keen to attract the top world experts and specialists in football so that the sports sector can be boosted,” he added.
Dr. Aisha Bu Sumait, Director, Communication and Marketing Department, DSC and Director of the Conference, announced that a separate team will be formed to provide 24–hours service in order to make all necessary preparations for the conference. “The conference is a unique opportunity for sports clubs and football companies in the UAE and the entire region to meet decision-makers and stars of the game from across the world. We need to take our sport forward and this is a unique platform to do so,” she said.
