Rio de Janeiro: Brazil striker Luis Fabiano scored his 14th goal in as many games as Sao Paulo shocked hosts Vasco da Gama 2-0 in Brazil’s Serie A football championship.

Fabiano struck from outside the area in the 20th minute and Osvaldo doubled the lead early in the second half when he dribbled past Auremir before curling a shot into the top corner, reports Xinhua.
Sao Paulo also had Rogerio Ceni to thank after the veteran goalkeeper made a series of spectacular saves to deny the home side in the second half Wednesday.
The result takes Sao Paulo to within a point of fourth-placed Vasco with nine matches remaining.
In other fixtures on Wednesday, Santos defeated Botafogo 2-0, Fluminense overcame Bahia 2-0, Corinthians beat Flamengo 3-2 and Internacional defeated Atletico Mineiro 3-0.
