The Emirates Post has promised the UAE national football team a mammoth Dh2 million as bonus if they win the 18th Gulf Cup championship.
The UAE, who are yet to win the coveted title, will meet Oman today in the grand finale at the Zayed Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Dubai Holding had earlier announced a similar initiative, offering a Dh1 million bonus to the hosts if they succeed in annexing the cup.
The Emirates Post director general, Abdullah Al Dabbous, said the offer reflects his organisation's great appreciation for what the UAE national team had so far been able to achieve. He said it also aimed at boosting the morale of the players so that they can give off their best to win the cup for the first time.
The chairman of the UAE Football Association, Yousuf Al Sarkal, thanked Emirates Post and all other national institutions that have made similar incentive offers to the national team.
