Muscat: The sounds of Brazilian samba music and Omani drums and clippings will reverberate in the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex when the GCC champions host the five-time world champions for a friendly on November 17.

Sayyid Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Al Busaidi, president of the Oman Football Association (OFA), has confirmed that Oman will host Brazil for a friendly.

Brazil has already announced a team of European-based players for the Middle East tour, which starts with a friendly against England in Qatar on November 14.

Matter of pride

"We at the OFA are proud to announce that the game is on, and it will be a matter of pride for us to host the world's greatest names in soccer," said Al Busaidi, adding that Brazilian mining giant Vale is the title sponsors for the match.

He told media that the match would also mark the National Day celebrations, which fall on November 18.

Meanwhile, Oman has a crucial match against Australia on November 14 at the same venue as they battle for a place in the Asian Cup finals.

"Though the match against Brazil will be sensational, the tie against Australia is more important to us," Al Busaidi pointed out.

The tickets for the match against Brazil are priced at five Omani riyals (Dh 47.70) for general stands, 25 riyals for special Grade B and 50 riyals for special Grade A.
