Bani Yas call on fans to fire up GCC title bid

Abu Dhabi: Bani Yas midfielder Nawaf Mubarak has asked the club’s fans to come out in force to support the team against Al Khor in the final of the GCC Clubs Championship on Thursday night.

“We are ready and waiting for our loyal supporters to come and cheer us on in the do or or die match against Al Khor,” Mubarak said on Wednesday. “We are the favourites to win the title and it will help us a great deal if we found the necessary support from our fans.

“All the players are determined to win the title to present it to our supporters after we lost the chance to win any domestic titles this season,” he said.

Meanwhile, the management of Al Dhafra club have invited fans of all UAE clubs to fill Bani Yas stadium on Thursday. Ali Al Tinaiji, the head of Al Dhafra Football Company, said: “We will take our fans from Madinat Zayed to travel to Abu Dhabi to attend the match and support our brothers in Bani Yas club. It is our duty to support the UAE clubs in their participation in regional and continental competitions because they represent all the clubs.”

Maria Al Awaji, the Saudi Arabian referee, will officiate the final match with the assistance of Badr Al Shamrani and Abdullah Al Shalawi.
