Al Wasl take title hat-trick with latest cup victory
Al Wasl clinched the basketball President's Cup after defeating neighbours Al Nasr 93-63 in the final held at the Saeed Bin Maktoum indoor sports hall at the Al Shabab club on Friday night.
Dubai|: Al Wasl clinched the basketball President's Cup after defeating neighbours Al Nasr 93-63 in the final held at the Saeed Bin Maktoum indoor sports hall at the Al Shabab club on Friday night.
It was the third title for Al Wasl in the current season, having already won the league title and Super Cup. They won the three titles by beating Al Nasr in each of the three finals.
Al Nasr clinched only the Vice President Cup in the current season as the first basketball title to be won in the club's history.
Al Wasl dominated the match from the word go without letting Al Nasr advance or level the score at any time throughout. They led in the first quarter 22-18 and went on to advance at halftime 43-37.
Players struggled
All the Al Wasl players, Fadil Abbas, Ebrahim Khalfan, Rashid Naser, Ayoub Abbas, Younis Khamis, Mamado of Ivory Coast and American Felix Courtny, showed fine form, helping their team take their thrid victory deservedly.
They led in the third quarter 68-53 and finished winners 93-63.
Al Nasr players were struggling and couldn't keep pace with their mighty opponents.
