Dubai: Al Wasl's senior football team are set to begin pre-season training next Tuesday.

The sessions will take place at the club's ground as the players prepare for the new season, which kicks off in September.

"The training sessions will be held at the club's stadium under the team's new coach Miroslav Beranek of the Czech Republic.

"The team leave on August 1 to Switzerland for a three week training camp and play several warm-ups against Swiss clubs," said Al Wasl's manager Hasan Talib.

Al Wasl had a disappointing season last year, finishing seventh in the league and losing in the Cup final.

This followed winning the double in the 2006-2007 season.

"We will be looking for the new season to repeat the achievements of 2007 when we won the league title and the President's cup."

Al Wasl said it would be a tough to repeat those achievements this year as it would be the first professional season.
