Abu Dhabi : Al Wahda consolidated their position at the top of the UAE Pro Football League (UFL) after trouncing Al Dhafrah 3-0 yesterday at Al Nahyan stadium, here. In another match, Ajman won a precious point following their 1-1 away tie with Bani Yas in the 16th week of the competition.
Al Wahda increased their tally to 40 points as Pinga and Basheer Saeed succeeded in breaking the stubborn visiting defence in the last minute of the first half and the first of the second half with long range shots.
Khaliloivc, the new coach of Al Dhafrah, used a defensive strategy to keep the home team at bay. However in the first minute of injury time of the first half, it failed when Pinga sent one of his trade mark long range shots to score his team's first.
Only ten seconds after the resumption of play and from the first back pass, defender Basheer sent a powerful long ranger from his own half to score the second goal.
Woodwork
Saeed Al Kathiri added the third, six minutes before the end of the match. Five times in the match, the woodwork came in the way to deny the home team from increasing its margin.Al Dhafrah remained with 17 points.
Ajman won a point, their fifth in 16 match after they drew 1-1 with Bani Yas.
Andre Sanghor put Bani Yas into the lead in the first half and Boris Kapi levelled 10 minutes before the final whistle. But the single point might not help Ajman to escape relegation as they are the bottom placed team.
Bani Yas are fourth with 28 points.
