Abu Dhabi: Al Khaleej Club became the first team to win promotion to the first division this season following their 2-2 draw with Ajman late on Thursday.

Al Khaleej took the lead in the 10th minute when their Nigerian striker Othman Moya scored but Diara, Ajman's striker from Cote D'Ivoire, levelled the match from the penalty spot then added his second goal only seconds before the break. Moya had the last laugh when he also scored his second and the all important equaliser took his team to the first division, 23 minutes into the second half.

Despite his two goals, Diara became the villain when he squandered a clear chance in injury time. Abdul Wahab Abdul Gadir, the Iraqi head coach of Al Khaleej, told Gulf News, "It was a close match but my players fought like tigers and won the valuable point which earned them promotion."
