Al Khaleej stay on top after victory over Al Arabi

Al Khaleej remain at the top of the standings in the etisalat second division league after beating Al Arabi 3-2 to raise their points tally to 47.

Dubai: Al Khaleej remain at the top of the standings in the etisalat second division league after beating Al Arabi 3-2 to raise their points tally to 47.

Mohammad Mal Allah scored two goals for Al Khaleej, while Mussa Darwish and Lawrenso scored for Al Arabi. Tariq Bilal hit the winner for Al Khaleej four minutes from time.

Al Ittihad chasing Al Khaleej, beat Al Orouba 2-1 to keep pace with the leaders and are on 44 points. Bani Yas who were on top of the table four weeks ago, are now third with 41 points after defeating Al Jazira Al Hammra 3-0.

Diba Al Hisn revived their hopes of winning promotion to the top flight after beating Dubai club 2-0 to raise their tally to 40.

Ajman drew 1-1 with Fujaira - both teams losing two points which will cost them dear in the promotion battle. Ajman are fifth with 37 points and Fujairah seventh with 34.

Ras Al Khaimah also dropped two points after they were held by lowly Al Hamriya in a 3-3 draw.

RAK are sixth with 36 points. Dubai lost hope of promotion after losing to Diba Al Hisn and are now ninth with 31 points.
