Al Khaleej retain top spot despite drawn match
Al Khaleej stayed on top of the Etisalat Second Division Football League despite a goalless draw against Al Ittihad in the 16th stage of the competition at the latter's ground in Kalba.

Dubai: Al Khaleej stayed on top of the Etisalat Second Division Football League despite a goalless draw against Al Ittihad in the 16th stage of the competition at the latter's ground in Kalba.
Al Khaleej are on top with 37 points, 2 more than arch-rivals Bani Yas who surprisingly lost 2-1 at home to Dubai club. It was the second successive defeat for Bani Yas, after losing to Ras Al Khaimah 3-1 a week ago.
Al Ittihad lost a good chance to narrow the gap with leaders Al Khaleej, after failing to beat them at the Kalba stadium.
Bani Yas lost a good chance to recapture the top spot. But they failed to beat Dubai Club.
Bani Yas have 35 points, while Al Ittihad are in third place with 32. Ajman, who are fourth, registered their ninth draw in 16 matches. Striker Abdul Rahman Khalfan levelled the scores for Ajman in the last minute of the match and helped his team maintain their undefeated run. Ajman now have 30 points.
Al Rams, placed bottom of the table, scored their first win in 16 matches by defeating Al Hamriya 2-1.
In the other matches, Al Arabi drew 1-1 with Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah drew 1-1 with Diba Al Hesn, Al Zaid crushed Masafi 5-0 while Diba Fujairah beat Al Jazira Al Hammra 4-0.
Matches of the 17th stage:
January 31: Dubai v Al Arabi, Ajman v Diba Fujairah, Al Jazira Al Hammra v Al Ittihad, RAK v Al Zaid.
February 1: Al Khaleej v Al Rams, Masafi v Al Orouba, Al Hamriya v Fujairah, Diba Al Hesn v Bani Yas.
