Dubai: Hosts Al Diyafah High School, Dubai, emerged as the champions of the fifth edition of the Al Diyafah High School Inter-School girls’ football tournament after defeating St. Mary’s 4-1 in the final.

Esha Oza scored a hat-trick for the winners, while Joranne netted for St Mary’s. Oza was then named as the tournament’s top goalscorer with five goals.
Six IGCSE schools from Dubai took part in the one-day tournament which was inaugurated by Al Diyafah School principal Joyce Rufus.
Al Diyafah trounced Al Salam Private School 6-0, while St Mary’s beat Winchester School 2-0. Dubai Scholars Private School got the better of Al Salam School 1 -0, and St Mary’s accounted for Westminster by the same scoreline. The Winchester School and Westminster school clash ended in goalless draw.
In the first semi-final, St Mary’s edged Dubai Scholars 1-0 through a goal from Janelle. In the second semi, Al Diyafah thrashed Westminster 5-0, with Tarunish scoring two goals while Esha, Racheal and Megin scored one goal each. Westminster clinched third place through a 1-0 win over Dubai Scholars. The only goal came from Manatalla. Rachael Pinto of Al Diyafah won the best player award, while Jorann Araujo of St Mary’s bagged the most promising player accolade. Meanwhile, Dubai Scholars won the Fair Play award.
