Dubai: Salah Abbas, the Al Nasr and former UAE national team player, promised the Al Nasr supporters a return to his best form in the coming weeks.

"Although I was away from the game for quite a while due to personal circumstances, I was given a warm welcome on my return," said Abbas. Al Nasr's new coach Luka Bonacic also welcomed him back and has charted a special training programme for him to regain fitness.

Apologies

"It is difficult for me to return to action with the senior team immediately, because I began training very recently. I will do my best to be fit as soon as possible so that I can be back in action with the team in the remaining league matches."

Abbas apologised to the Al Nasr supporters for such a long absence: "I will work hard in the coming days to make the Al Nasr supporters happy with my strong performance on the field and not by announcing it in the newspapers."

The controversial midfielder played with Al Wasl last season - helping them to win the league and President's Cup after one season with Al Nasr.

However, after his transfer formalities were over last season, he didn't play for his old club Al Nasr from September 2007 until he began training two weeks ago.
