Flyers rookie James van Riemsdyk put in a backhand to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage 1:47 into the third and Philadelphia withstood 21 shots in the final period.

Drew Doughty scored on a power play to pull Los Angeles within one with 7:51 remaining, but Philadelphia cleared a last gasp shot off their goal-line to make sure of the result.

Jarret Stoll converted the game's first goal to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead at 14:53 in the first before Mika Pyorala and Mike Richards scored second-period goals to put the Flyers up 2-1.

The Kings (13-8-2) had won two straight but lost on a day they announced their second leading scorer Ryan Smyth would be sidelined for a month with an upper body injury.
