Dubai: Phil Taylor avenged his recent World Championship defeat to Gary Anderson with a comprehensive 11-3 thrashing of the current world and Premier League champion in the first semi-final of the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters at Dubai Tennis Stadium on Friday.

The record 16-time world champion romped ahead to an 8-1 lead before Anderson pegged him back to 9-3, but Taylor took the remaining two legs for victory.

“I’m in the final so I’m happy,” said Taylor, who was subjected to his fair share of booing from supporters.

“I was getting a bit upset with the crowd but that’s the game and that’s what you have to deal with, it’s very lively and people are out to enjoy themselves.

“I don’t want to talk about the game, but my darts are coming together. I’ve been working with my coach on altering and perfecting my game and that’s what I’m doing.

“One more title wouldn’t go amiss and I think the next one would be better than all the rest put together – it’s hard for me at the minute but it’s hard for everyone.

“Whoever wins titles now has got to play out of their skin.”
