Georgetown, Guyana: Bangladesh continued their giant-killing exploits at the Provedence Stadium here when they defeated World No. 1 South Africa by 67 runs. The South Africans were bowled out for 184 in 48.4 overs.

Abdur Razzak picked up the last South African wicket, getting rid off Makhaya Ntini. Earlier, Razzak had brought Bangladesh a wicket closer to victory, trapping Charl Langeveldt leg before for 9.

For South Africa, Gibbs completed his 50 with a 6 off Mortaza over deep midwicket.

The experienced pair of Shaun Pollock and Herschelle Gibbs had put on a 45-run stand in quick time and seemed to be giving South Africa an outside chance in the match. But Tamim Iqbal at mid-off ended the partnership by a direct hit as South Africa slid ever closer towards defeat.

Andre Nel came in and presented a simple caught and bowled to give Mohammad Rafique his first wicket.

The South African innings was in doldrums at 98/6 after 30 overs. The injured Gibbs was fighting a lone battle. He slashed Saqibul through covers for a four and slammed him for a 6 over long on. But at 141/8 after 40 overs, it seemed like a lost battle for South Africa.

Bangladesh left-arm seamer Syed Rasel struck the crucial blow at the beginning, dismissing South African skipper Graeme Smith for 12.

Earlier, Mohammad Ashraful scored 87 runs and helped Bangaldesh set a challenging 251 for 8 after Graeme Smith put them in to bat after winning the toss under overcast conditions.
