UAE to play in three top Asian events this year

The UAE will take part in three high profile Asian Cricket Council tournaments this year.

Sharjah: The UAE will take part in three high profile Asian Cricket Council tournaments this year.

"We are gearing up for three important Asian tournaments. It will be a great experience for the players," said Mazhar Khan, the Administrator of the Emirates Cricket Board.

Day-night

The UAE will take part in the Asia Cup, which will be staged in Pakistan in June. The Asia Cup will start with the UAE taking on Bangladesh in a day-night match in Lahore on June 24. The UAE will then take on the strong Sri Lanka team on June 26. Soon after the Asia Cup, the UAE will play in the ACC Trophy from July 11 to 20. The UAE are the defending champions. The winners of this tournament will qualify to play in the next Asia Cup. The UAE will compete along with Afghanistan, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. The ACC will also be hosting the ACC Under-17 Elite Cup. The UAE will compete along with Bahrain, Bhutan, Brunei, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.

As preparation for the events, the UAE team may fly out to India and play a few practice matches against Saurashtra Ranji trophy team.
