UAE allrounder Sarwar displays brilliant form

The UAE team's promising allrounder Shoaib Sarwar displayed brilliant form to guide Consolidated Shipping Services (CSS) to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Al Barraq in the Sharjah Ramadan Rufi Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

  • Sarwar, who was in brilliant form for the UAE and for the Emirates Rest team in the Alam Steel Four nation tournament last season, hit an unbeaten 54 and also took two wickets.

Sharjah: The UAE team's promising allrounder Shoaib Sarwar displayed brilliant form to guide Consolidated Shipping Services (CSS) to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Al Barraq in the Sharjah Ramadan Rufi Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Sarwar, who was in brilliant form for the UAE and for the Emirates Rest team in the Alam Steel Four nation tournament last season, hit an unbeaten 54 and also took two wickets.

CSS raced to the target of 102 mainly through Sarwar's knock which came off just 24 balls studded with six fours and three sixes. He also got support from hardhitter Shaimon Anwar, who hit 26 off just ten balls with four fours and one six. They won in just 8.4 overs.

In another match the Yogi Group scored an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Sharjah Club.

Batting first, Sharjah Club could muster only 100 runs due to the Yogi Group's tight bowling led by Mukhtar Qadri, who took two wickets.

The Yogi Group reached the target in 18 over losing two wickets. Mumbai Ranji Trophy player Swapnil Patel cracked 43 while prolific scorer Bilal Murtaza hit 32.

Meanwhile, Eurocon Alubond recorded the highest score in the Trucape Kibsons Twenty20 Ramadan tournament. They piled up a massive 274 for 3 through Hanif Malek's unbeaten 102 and Rizwan Ahmad's 62 against Pearl Cricket Club.

Chasing the score, Pearl were bowled out for 45 with Indika and Azam taking three wickets each. Eurocon recorded a huge 229 runs win.

CSS Group bt Al Barraq by 9 wkts: Al Barraq 101 ( Rizwan Ahmad 3 for 11, Kashif Ahmad 3 for 27, Shoaib Sarwar 2 for 13) CSS Group 102 for 1 in 8.4 overs (Shoaib Sarwar 54n.o, Shaimon Anwar 26). Man of the match: Shoaib Sarwar.

Ajman Ramadan tournament: Eurocon Alubond bt Pearl CC by 229 runs. Eurocon Alubond 274 for 3 (Haris Baig 40, Hanif Malek 102 n.o., Ameen Mujtaba 34, Rizwan Ahmad 62). Pearl CC 45 in 15.3 Overs (Indika 3 for 7, Azam 3 for 10). Man of the match : Hanif Malek.
