The Indian Premier League (IPL), a franchise-based Twenty20 tournament, will take off tomorrow. Labelled as one of the biggest sporting extravaganzas ever to be staged in India, this event is expected to be a spectacular treat for cricket fans around the world.

The finest cricketers of the present era have landed in India to battle for the glory of the eight cities named as Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Bangalore Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals.

This event is the brainchild of Lalit Modi, the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. All the teams are so strong that it is impossible to predict the favourites. All teams have spent millions of dollars to strengthen their squads but the $1million question is who will emerge the winners on June 1, the final day of this tournament.
