New Delhi, Bangalore: India's ace batsman Sachin Tendulkar will miss a limited-over tri-series in Bangladesh and the Asia Cup in Pakistan due to a persistent groin injury, the Indian cricket board said yesterday.

Niranjan Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said Tendulkar will not be considered when the team is selected today.

"Tendulkar is not available for the tri-series and the Asia Cup. He has not recovered sufficiently from a groin injury," Press Trust of India quoted Shah as saying in Mumbai.

Tendulkar missed two Test matches against South Africa last month after his groin injury flared up during the opening Test match. He then took an extended rest before returning to play in a domestic Twenty20 tournament.

Meanwhile, India's pace spearhead Zaheer Khan has also decided to skip the tri-series to rest his troublesome ankle so that he can prepare for the Asia Cup in Pakistan and Sri Lanka tour. Zaheer injured his ankle again while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

An ankle injury had forced the left-arm seamer to return home from Australia after the first Test last season. He was also not available for the home series against Pakistan and South Africa in the winter.

Zaheer last played a ODI against Pakistan at Gwalior in November.
