DUBAI: With Pakistan already sealing the Test series against England, Asad Shafiq is optimistic about his team making a clean sweep.
"We have been training hard. The team has performed really well in the last two matches and we hope we will continue with the good work and win the third one as well," said the right-handed batsman, who got 58 and 43 in the second Test.
Shafiq said it was a brilliant team effort that has given Pakistan positive results. "The team have been really gelling well and performing beyond expectations. But credit also should go to our bowlers who did a wonderful job that helped us win the second Test."
He denied that he was under pressure to perform every time he went in to bat especially with another talented batsman Umar Gul waiting for an opportunity from the bench.
"I don't have any pressure. My aim is to just play for Pakistan and perform well. I want to contribute as much possible as a batsman. I think everybody in the team are only focused on that," said Shafiq, who has played 10 Tests for Pakistan.
"There is huge responsibility when you are playing Test cricket. I have yet to learn a lot of things and it has helped me improve my batting and spending a lot of time in the middle," added Shafiq.
Praising England's good bowling attack, he said: "They have really bowled well and kept it tight but our batsman have been putting a mature performance so far."
