Powercut delays Daredevils IPL game
Propelled by Gautam Gambhir's 86, Delhi Daredevils scored 191 for five against Bangalore Royal Challengers in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match here Wednesday.
New Delhi: The start of an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Delhi Daredevils and Bangalore Royal Challengers was delayed by 10 minutes due to a power snag at the Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium here Wednesday.
Just before the start of the match, there was a power breakdown following a short circuit at the temporary studio built in the Club House of the stadium.
It prompted the broadcaster Sony and World Sports Group to request the teams and the organisers, Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA), to delay the start of match by 30-40 minutes.
The team managements and the DDCA refused to do so as, in that case, the match would get over only past midnight. The start of the match, however, was delayed by 10 minutes.
The live telecast of the match was not possible initially, but it was resumed after 40 minutes of play.
