Adelaide: Sachin Tendulkar hit a century to leave India in a strong position on the first day of the fourth test with Australia.
The master blaster smashed an unbeaten 124 to help the visitors to 309 for five at the close of play in Adelaide.
India decided to bat first but lost the wickets of Irfan Pathan (9) and Rahul Dravid (18) to leave them struggling a little on 82 for two.
Tendulkar then stepped forward to share a 126 partnership with VVS Laxman to haul India back into the game.
Laxman went for 51 but Tendulkar carried on with his exhibition of stroke play to end the day on 124.
