Lancashire beat Sussex to register third victory

Lancashire scored a 109-run win over Sussex in the Pro-Arch Cricket Tournament as Andrew Flintoff took another step closer to regaining his rhythm and form.

Abu Dhabi: Lancashire scored a 109-run win over Sussex in the Pro-Arch Cricket Tournament as Andrew Flintoff took another step closer to regaining his rhythm and form.

Electing to bat first, Lancs scored 246 with useful contributions from almost all their players and then had Sussex in a spin before completing a 109-run win, their third win in three matches.

Lancashire now take on Yorkshire at the Zayed International Cricket Stadium today and look set to clinch the Pro-Arch Trophy with an unbeaten record.

Brief stay

Mark Chilton top scored with 45 while Stuart Love (38) and Mal Loye (32) chipped in with useful contributions for the Lancs. Flintoff hit a six and two boundaries in his brief stay at the middle

Lancashire were 117 for 2 in the 19th over before Tom Smith struck to account for send Law, Flintoff and Chilton. The left-arm spinner finished with 3 for 29 off his ten overs as Lancashire reached 246. Chris Nash also picked up three wickets.

Sussex never recovered from some early blows when they were reduced to 1 for two wickets.

Apart from a battling 49 from skipper Chris Adams, Sussex never recovered from that double blow and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
