Sharjah: Former Ranji Trophy player and promising youngster Usman Kutty hogged the limelight in the Sharjah Ramadan Twenty20 Rufi Cup tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Kutty, a former Kerala Ranji Trophy player, produced an allround show to steer Danube Cricket team to a 53-runs victory over Al Barraq while UAE's rising allrounder Shoaib Sarwar sparkled with the bat and ball to help Consolidated Shipping Services (CSS) to a six-wicket win over Transgulf.

Batting first, Danube posted an impressive 142 for 7 through Sanju's 47 and Kutty's 38. Farhan bowled a tight length and took three wickets but could not get support from the other end.

Kutty then picked up three wickets with his medium pace; however, it was left-arm spinner Gopal Jasapara who wrecked Al Barraq's batting with four-wickets for just 10 runs. His spell helped restrict Al Barraq for just 89 runs in 12 overs.

Meanwhile, CSS's Shoaib Sarwar provided good support to Rizwan Latif and Naeemulla Khan to restrict Transgulf to 108 for 9.
