Khan steals show again as Khatri reach Rosy final

Salman Khan hogged the limelight again in the Rosy Blue Twenty20 Summer Cup at the Sharjah Cricket stadium.

Sharjah: Salman Khan hogged the limelight again in the Rosy Blue Twenty20 Summer Cup at the Sharjah Cricket stadium with another splendid unbeaten half century, he guided Khatri Cricket Club into the final of the tournament.

Khatri will meet Digicom Zahira Colombo in the final on Thursday. Digicom beat Tech Group by four wickets in the other semifinal.

It was Khan's unbeaten 67 against the star studded Fly Emirates that helped Khatri Club reach the semifinals.

Khatri scored an challenging 148 for 7 against Millennium Metals mainly through Khan's unbeaten 56 off 43 balls with two fours and three sixes.

"I'm delighted that through my knocks I have been able to guide my team to two victories. It's a nice feeling," said Khan to Gulf News.

Khan, who hails from Karachi, has been playing for Khatri ever since the team's formation about two years ago.

"I used to play for the Karachi District team along with Pakistan Test stars like Younis Khan. I am happy that I am able to continue with my game here," said Khan, who bats left-handed and prefers to bat at No 4.

Well supported

Though Khatri, posted 147 runs, they won the match mainly due to the bowling of Umair Ahmad, who picked up three wickets for 12 runs.

He was well supported by Adnan Baber, who also took three wickets for 19 runs. Together they bowled out Millennium Metals for 123 in 18.1 overs.

Rajeeb, who hit 35 off 29 balls and Asif Malek, through a 33 off 32 balls, tried their best to guide Millennium to the target.

In the other match, Digicom Zahira breezed into the final after restricting Tech Group to just 98 for 9. The only batsman to put up some resistance was Kasim Butt, who hit 19 runs.

Digicom bowlers, Dhananjaya Fernando, Manjula Guruge and Herath Fernando bowled a tight length. Chandana was the most impressive taking two wickets for nine runs.

Chasing an easy target, Digicom raced to victory in just 15.2 overs through Dhananjaya Fernando's 43. His knock came off 33 balls and contained three fours and one six.
