Ibsons continue winning spree in Ramadan cricket

Last updated:

Abu Dhabi: Ibsons scored their third successive victory and in the bargain showed the door to First Gulf Bank in the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council's Ramadan Twenty20 cricket tournament for the Fortune Cup.

Ibsons inflicted a three-wicket win over First Gulf Bank who failed to advance to the next stage.

After restricting the bankers to 115 for nine, opener Mohammad Amjad belted 70 runs off just 30 deliveries to ensure Ibsons were home. Amjad slammed five sixes and seven fours and more than made up for his fellow batsmen.

Ibsons lead group D and will tomorrow face UAE Exchange Centre, who must win to make it a three-way tie for the quarter final spots with William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana.

In the second match played on Sunday night, Electro Cooling Centre kept their hopes alive with victory over Ace in Group C. ECC scored 167 for nine and dismissed their opponents for 115 to win by 52 runs.

Jamshid Butt slammed 45 off just 21 balls with six sixes and one four while Asanka Chandana picked up 3 for 18 to play the lead roles in ECC's win.
