Sharjah: Mohammad Boota produced another match-winning performance to guide Ibsons CC to a five-wicket victory over CSS Group in a quarterfinal match of the Sharjah Ramadan Twenty20 Rufi Cup at the Sharjah stadium.

In another quarterfinal match, New Medical Centre (NMC) recorded a comfortable 73-run victory over Seven Seas.

Boota, who has won a string of man of the match prizes in this tournament, once again rose to the occasion, slamming a brilliant 79 to help Ibsons overhaul CCS Group's challenging score of 165 for six with four balls to spare.

CSS Group, rated as one of the favourites to win the title, rode on blistering 96 by Harish Haridas to build their innings. Harish smashed five fours and six sixes in his 66-ball innings, but he lacked support from the other end. Pervaiz Nazir was the most successful Ibsons bowler, taking three wickets for 47 runs.

Ibsons, in reply, planned their innings well with Boota leading from the front. The talented batsman scored four fours and four sixes in his 54-ball knock. Baber Malek also chipped in with a useful 29 off 21 balls as Ibsons achieved the victory target in 19.2 overs.

Naeemullah took three wickets for 26 runs, but his spell failed to threaten the Ibsons' batsmen.

In the other quarterfinal match, Saqib Ali, the former UAE skipper, turned in a telling allround performance to set up a big victory for NMC. Saqib hit 51 off 40 balls with eight fours as NMC, batting first, scored 167 for seven.

In the Dulsco Ramadan Open tournament at Zabeel Park Cricket Grounds, Zain Club defeated Showtech Sound and Light by five wickets.

Zain managed to chase a stiff target set by their rivals Showtech who batted first and put on 171 for the loss of six wickets.

Zain will now clash with the winners of Danube and Dubai Royals CC for a place in the final.

Electing to bat first, Showtech lost their top four batsmen for only 20 runs. Javad of Zain Club bagged four wickets for 23 runs.

Chasing the target, Zain lost their opener Qasim Butt for six runs. However, Waqas and Khurram steadied the Zain boat with a valuable partnership of 59 runs.
