Dubai: Najeeb Amar's allround show propelled Hong Kong to a three-wicket victory over the UAE in a rain-affected final of the ACC Trophy Elite 2008 at the Kinarara Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

Former UAE skipper Saqib Ali's fighting century went in vain after Hong Kong reached the target of 203 with just 1.5 overs remaining.

Despite coming in early at the fall of opener and skipper Tabrark Dar at 13, Najeeb, who grabbed four wickets, made 100 in a mere 80 balls, including six sixes and nine fours. After his exit, Hong Kong suffered a scare losing four wickets with the addition of 46 runs, but Butt Hussain (27 not out) guided his team to victory in a revised target of 203. Electing to bat, UAE got off to a disastrous start losing Mohammad Iqbal, Arshad Ali and Amjad Ali for just 14 runs on the board.

Saqib and captain Khurram Khan stemmed the rot with a 144-run stand for the fourth wicket. Mohammad Taquir remained unbeaten on 22 as UAE made 243 for seven in the allotted 50 overs.
