Faisal ton puts NPCC in semis of oil event

A brilliant unbeaten century by Faisal Iqbal helped NPCC coast to a 100-run win over Adma-Opco and enter the semifinal of the Division section in the Inter-Oil Companies Cricket tournament.

Abu Dhabi: A brilliant unbeaten century by Faisal Iqbal helped NPCC coast to a 100-run win over Adma-Opco and enter the semifinal of the Division section in the Inter-Oil Companies Cricket tournament.

Playing at the ADCC grounds on Saturday, Faisal belted 139 to help NPCC reach 233 for four.

In reply, Adma were all out for 133, giving NPCC a 100-run win, their fourth successive in the six-team Division 1.

Faisal's hurricane innings came off just 74-balls with nine sixes and nine fours he shared a 107-run stand for the third wicket with Nasir Riaz. Riaz was also in a punishing mood with 44 from 39 deliveries.

Strong contenders

Adma's run chase was halted by Ayoub Khan and Ujal Singh who picked up four and three wickets respectively while Faisal capped his brilliance with a two-wicket haul.

In another Division 1 encounter, strong contenders Adnoc Distribution kept punching with their third win. They bowled out Esnaad for 164 and then half centuries by Imran Zia and Asif Khan steered Adnoc Dist. to an eight-wicket win.

Shoaib Khan top scored for Esnaad with 65 with Irfan Basheer picking up three wickets for Adnoc. Later Zia remained unbeaten on 59 while Asif Khan also scored 59 to help their side through.

In the Division 2 category, Gasco and Borouge outplayed basement teams Zadco and Adnoc to take their tally to six points apiece from playing four games.
