Dubai: The Dubai Cricket Council will revive their popular Inter School Cricket Tournament for Under-15 and Under-18 age categories soon.

"Our schools tournament which produced many good cricketers will be organised again. We have been hit by a shortage of grounds but we have decided to stage it in February," remarked Mohammad Lokhandwala, the DCC's convenor of tournaments to Gulf News.

Veteran cricketer and businessman Freddy Sidhwa of Seven Seas has stepped forward to provide assistance by offering the Seven Seas and Dubai Investment Park (DIP) grounds.

The DCC has also approached the Dubai Municipality for the Zabeel Park cricket ground.

"Matches will be held on Saturdays and also on weekday afternoons to complete it before the school examinations," added Lokhandwala.

Entries will be limited to 16 teams on a first come, first serve basis.

Schools must fax their confirmation on 04-3356757 or on 04-3971416.

For more information contact Lokhandwala on 050-6563775 or Farrukh Siddiqui on 050-6514069.
