Cricket teams from England fly into Dubai
Dubai: Schools and cricket academies from Sussex, Yorkshire and Durham now love to play in Dubai.
Cosmos School and Bids School from Sussex, Manningham Cricket Centre from Yorkshire and Army Barmy Cricket Academy from Sussex are all in Dubai to play matches against Young Talent Cricket Academy (YTCA).
"Teams from England now regularly come to play here. After we invited some teams from England to play in the Nissan Cup tournament, many teams now come to regularly play against our academy," said Shehzad Altaf, the chief coach of YTCA.
"By March end three more teams are coming here. They find the teams here competitive. Like last year, we have decided to stage another tournament in Durham for Under-11, Under-15 and Under-18 players," added Altaf.
At the Delhi Private School in Jebel Ali, YTCA beat Manningham Cricket Centre by nine wickets.
Though Manningham scored 226 for 8, YTCA reached the target with eight overs to spare through brilliant knocks from captain Abhinav Ghua (81) and unbeaten knocks from Kartik Venu (50) and Adil (57).
