Cricket body takes time off for a cause
ICC chief Speed dons the cap of an umpire as Emirates Cricket Board win by 65 runs

Sharjah: Members and officials of the International Cricket Council (ICC) took time off their busy schedule to promote the sport in the world around by themselves taking to the turf.
The ICC team played against the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) seniors in a friendly encounter.
The ECB team, that included a few officials who still regularly play the game, beat ICC by 65 runs under floodlights at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Malcolm Speed, the ICC chief executive, proved how good he is in not only tackling cricket controversies but also in dealing with the laws of the game. He officiated as an umpire along with Sharjah Cricket Council joint secretary Mansoor Pasha.
ICC won the toss and asked ECB to bat first. Opener Mohammad Hyder and Shahtaj Shaji put on 66 runs. Chris Tetley bowled well to restrict the run flow.
Former Indian Ranji Trophy star and DCC executive member Jaideep Mathur hit an unbeaten 39, but Australian Grade A player Tim Anderson picked up 2 wickets to restrict ECB to 155 for 7 in 25 overs.
ICC began their chase with openers James Fitzgerald and Tauqeer Hussain, but Shehzad Khan dismissed both of them. ECB officials-turned-coaches, Mohammad Lokhandwala and Mohammad Hyder, took three wickets each. Veteran leg-spinner Ali Anwar took 2 wickets as the ICC side were bowled out for 90.
Meanwhile, in the Dulsco Corporate Cricket Tournament being played at Zabeel Park, ETA Ascon trounced Halliburton Worldwide by 106 runs.
Electing to bat first, ETA scored 211 for 5 and then bowled out Halliburton for 106 in 17.4 overs.
Openers Abdeen and Tanvir Alam put on 48 runs. After Tanvir departed for 36, Shafaqat Ali and Abdeen fortified ETA Ascon's innings with a 71-run partnership. Abdeen scored 30 runs.
